I was JUST watching a doc about Lincoln’s last day alive wherein one of the historians said with a menacing smirk that the biggest tragedy of that day wasn’t that Lincoln died but that Johnson lived

“Lincoln survives and Johnson doesn’t” is really the best case scenario, as the latter assassination gives the rest of the admin the casus belli they need to act as Johnson didn’t
