Am I alone in thinking that those wristbands, while admittedly producing an impressive display, were another disposable piece of crap that the environment didn't need to have to ultimately deal with? Were there any facilities to reccycle or dispose of them cleanly?

It's getting there. I get more engagement here than I do on my X photography a/c. I also use Facebook and Instagram, and get most engagement with FB, even if it is considered a bit out of date. I really don't like Instagram - too many limitations for serious photography. Each to their own, I guess.

Also meant to say hang in there. BlueSky hasn't got the same user-base as X yet, so it'll take a while to build followers. It's a much nicer place, though; not nearly as toxic as X has become.

Thanks, Steve. I think it might make me look even more critically at my photos. I've done a few single-copy books, just for myself, which were very self-gratifying, but I want to go a step further and make a more serious book, maybe for sale (even in a very limited way). And before it's too late!

The end result may not be immediately visible in the quality of your photos, but if it improves the process & makes the taking of the photos easier or in any way better, then it's worth doing. But if the appeal is only in having different buttons & menus, then it's just gadgetry for gadgetry's sake.

Is a photograph a photograph if it's never printed? If it only ever remains as a series of digits on a storage device? I don't know the answer, but I'm guilty of not printing enough of my photos, so I'm making a half-year resolution to change that.

I agree. In any field, though, there'll always be the people who just love buying more gear, whether it's hi-fi, fishing or photography, etc. They just have to have the latest thing. It's fair enough if you have the disposable readies to do it, I guess, but it doesn't necessarily improve your craft.

3. Give up looking for lens cap.
4. Order replacement lens cap from eBay.
5. Find lost lens cap.
