Went to my history loans @archive.org
* 32% bought
* 11% most second-hand, on my ToBuy list
* 41% not available to buy or too expensive (200€!)
* 2% Public Domain
* 14% not interested (some not available)
Don't ever tell me libraries harm publishers. EVER.

Fun fact: The Plant Seed Co. of St. Louis, Missouri, was founded in 1845 by a man named William Plant.
It also had cool catalog art. Here’s one from 1892.

At its core, the reason publishers are going after the Internet Archive isn't that its actions have lost money for authors. It's that publishers want to delegitimise the concept of owning a digital copy of something.

I wouldn't have been able to complete my master's in history under covid lockdowns without the Internet Archive's collection. The Internet Archive pays for books the books it copies and makes them accessible to people who could not otherwise read them. Support their work. Sign the petition. Thanks.

I fairly regularly need older/more obscure stuff that I can't immediately get through the libraries I have access to. This is especially frustrating when a digital version exists but is paywalled.
