Just saying, if it weren't for bikes, books, and photography, I'd probably spend my days in a rage-despair cycle. Riding bikes makes me feel like a 12-year-old. Reading books transports me out of myself. And photography reminds me that I live in a beautiful, amazing world. Some days I need that.

My friend Beckett is an illustrator and she does this every month, and every month it's beautiful and amazing. The very notion of a 'gratitude calendar' is lovely; it's a good reminder that there's beauty to be found even in the grimmest of times (if 'grimmest' is a word, and it should be).

And by allowing "the lower court to consider these questions," they've effectively delayed any possible trial even longer. If the lower court decides Trump's actions were NOT 'official conduct,' you know Trump would appeal that to SCOTUS.

I sort of miss all that. Over the last 5-6 years I've donated or sold all of my bikes except the mostly-stock ebike I ride now. Now I get my repair rack out only every couple of months for tuning & lubing.

I had a small 3x5 plastic zippered bag with an assortment of tools for simple bike repairs. I kept it & a small first aid kit inside my rack bag. But then, of course, I stopped to help somebody whose handlebars were loose, forgot to put the toolkit back in my bag, and rode off.

I find myself seeking out little chores to do to distract myself from the SCOTUS horrorshow. Right now I'm trying to find the perfect small bag to replace the bike tool kit I lost yesterday. Also, I probably have laundry to do. I may need to run to the market to buy garlic. My beard needs trimming.

Harvey is a lovely 1951 film about a person whose family is ashamed of him because he's different (he's friends with a pooka) & want to eradicate the facets of his being that make him different. It's charming & funny & sad. Today it would be a great metaphor for LGBTQ folks.

In a couple of hours SCOTUS will decide whether Trump can be prosecuted. My guess is they'll devise a test to determine the types of presidential behavior that can be considered immune. But they won't apply the test; they'll let the court do that. Then Trump will appeal the judge's decision.
