This is such a disgrace. There is something very broken with our nation thanks to the gun-worshippers in our homes, in our legislatures, and on SCOTUS. Our future looks bleak as long as this continues. It's sickening that 376 police officers were afraid to confront a single 18 year old shooter.

Dobbs happened because of those who thought there was no difference between Clinton and Trump. The GOP has made clear its allegiance to the wealthy, to oil companies, to those opposed to equal rights for people of color. The Democratic Party is not perfect but it's the only alternative to fascism.

Anything to distract from Trump's disbanding of the pandemic response team in 2018 and subsequent dismissal of the epidemiologist embedded in China's disease control agency. His ignorance and incompetence lost the world critical time in dealing with COVID. So it's a strategy to protect him.

True -- but he was part of the old sane GOP and a person with a real sense of humor. Weld was also Republican. They were a dying breed, like Michael Bloomberg who was Republican when mayor of NY. They would have been comfortable in the pre-Reagan GOP, which overlapped with Democrats in ideology

In 2016, the Libertarian Presidential ticket was Gary Johnson and William Weld -- so it is clear that as recently as 8 years ago there were still some sane, thoughtful people associated with the party. But sadly that no longer appears to be true.

Why do you say that? Trump is America's Hitler and a bully, liar, traitor, bully, rapist, and racist and a dictator wannabe. "Christian" nationalists may support him but he doesn't care about them or their ideology. I'm just pointing out that he is neither a Christian nor a nationalist.

Trump is not a Christian nationalist. 1. He knows nothing and cares nothing about religion, including Christianity. 2. He is not a nationalist-- he is happy to sell out the interests of our nation to tyrants ruling elsewhere: the Saudis, Putin, Xi, whoever will praise him or fund him.

One can certainly argue that the Israeli focus has to be on their own people, not those in Gaza. But it is still wrong to be cavalier about the harm being inflicted on the innocents living there, especially given that it will only make the situation worse for Israel in the long run.

One area in which the Netanyahu government and Hamas are in full agreement: neither cares about the suffering and harm done to the civilians in Gaza. Hamas, of course, has never cared about the well-being of the citizens in Gaza.

Unfortunately, that's what they do election after election. I'm not sure what you can do to counteract the full force of the state government with its determined efforts to interfere with voting rights. Is there any evidence that ads attacking the GOP for harming women would have any effect?

But the laws restricting abortion apply to blue cities as well as the rest of the state. The efforts to make it more difficult to vote are statewide. Restrictions on books in schools can be forced on blue cities. How can you overcome these obstacles?

20+ years ago my employer made the same mistake but in this case they had hired an outside firm to develop a name for a new service they were launching. It was only after public announcements they discovered that the name was already in use!

Trump was surrounded by well-educated people who promoted his coup -- Eastman, Navarro, Powell, Giuliani, etc. The Heritage Foundation is run by educated members. Let's not pretend that somehow education is a magic bullet that protects you from lies and propaganda.

When has he done something admirable? There was a period years ago when I thought he had insight, but realized that I was wrong. Certainly have not seen any sign of decency from 2013 onward. And learning of his earlier over zealous defense of Matt Hale did not improve my opinion of him.

For all those who believe that Biden will decisively defeat Trump, remember that even without voter disenfranchisement, a candidate who received 70% of the vote can lose thanks to the electoral college. Not a likely result but possible.

Aren't most of the members of the Federalist Society opposed to birthright citizenship? IANAL but I would not put it past a conservative SCOTUS to find a case that overturns United States v. Wong Kim Ark, given their total lack of concern for precedent.
