It is amazing how the what the rightwing view as a terrible outcome, sounds like a positive change.
Would be lovely to have lib-dems as opposition, but that probably is too much to hope for.

... Though less so about blaming "activists" on self-id. ... That is like blaming asylum seekers for the Rowanda debacle.

Anyway, I broadly agree with you, not wishing to start any sort of argument.

But why even argue that it is somehow self evident that Tennant should be ignored in this case... just because identity politics was used as some form of defence for her actions doesn't mean it had any credence and we all have to go... Ofcourse that makes sense.

Idk, it is just a "see, I always pick the winner" in a two horse race where you've watched your initial pick going around the track without a rider for the last ten minutes and think it's probably time to bet on the other horse.

This post seems to indicate that you can't fathom that it is Badenoch's actions from her position of power that are the problem.

That's the thing, I don't think the statement is bringing in anything new.
It is just a reiteration of what we currently have.

Head of the NHS is about to be changed, Faulkner will be out in November, Badenoch's plans to change the equality act have been stopped, Truss's bathroom bill she already tried to present will no longer see the light of day. Plans to leave the echr shelved.
That was the trajectory we were on.

It would be nice, but I think the issue with that combination would be the SNP want to have an independent Scotland and I believe the libdems are one nation.
I am not sure that makes for an easy coalition, but I wouldn't rule anything out.

I mean, if you were from the UK you'd be talking about the rise of the Murdoch press 20+ years ago, not fox bloody news, which is a total irrelevance here... let alone brining in Nixon... Thatcher and Baroness Nicholson are right there ffs.. as for evangelicals... we have them, but....

Come on though... if the only thing you can come up with over the last 20+ years of uk politics around trans people... is fox news and Nixon.... like jfc.

No, no, vote for the independent candidate who only has 0.5% of the vote share in your area... that'll show both the tories and labour.

You know... you should be angry at the first past the post system, right?
Weird stuff... like how the lib-dems get all the flack for student tuition fees, while the conservatives who forced it through get absolutely no blow back whatsoever. A political master stroke, really.

I'm not blind to this. There are a number of "gender critical" MP's absolutely, Duffield is right there.
It isn't the votes they are courting though, unlike the conservatives/reform - it's more of a dirty secret, rather than something they are out and proud about.
Not saying it is great, it's not.

Agreed on the red flags, absolutely. Duffield still has the whip...
However, I don't view religious bigotry, like preventing trans women from going to a mikveh as an equal issue to accessing your bathroom at work
When talking about "protecting single-sex spaces", you're covering both scenarios

Absolutely!
Part of the problem is that we live in a country where we have effectively a two party system with first past the post. That is the system that needs to be changed.
Also the whole "enlightened liberal"/centrist needs to get in the bin and the paradox of tolerance needs to kick in.

Karen's are going to Karen and they will piss off far more cis people than trans people.
The big issue has been and always will be work places when it comes to bathrooms, rather than strangers in public spaces tbh.
But hey, what do I know.

Well, with luck, we can find out if your cheery disposition is right.
The biggest difference will be who is in opposition tbh. If we can have a party that isn't reliant on "culture war" bs to cling to power, it'll change the direction of things a lot.

I mean, it is just a reflection of the law as it currently stands. That proportional clause in the gra.
It was also said on the interview circuit that bathrooms aren't policed now and they wouldn't be introducing bathroom police.

Anyway, with luck on Friday we'll both get to see how Labour will do things.
Exciting isn't it.

Your regular reminder that "socially conservative" and "family values" are euphemisms for being a homophobic bigot.
This shouldn't be treated as a difference of opinions that should be tolerated.
