I do really like it! Honestly these days it’s mostly a rice and oatmeal machine for us but it is nice to have for other things too, like the pressure cooking. We have limited storage space in our kitchen so it’s nice to have a reliable multifunctional appliance

The “as normal” in the graphic presumes a stovetop prep, where you can watch it and see that it’s done and turn it off at that point. But that’s not how rice cookers work.

So my thinking is that a rice cooker operates on a timer, presuming that the rice is not parboiled, and cooks until the water is absorbed. If it’s parboiled, surely that affects the timing?

Nasal vaccines for COVID are coming along!
While it's great that the current vaccines dramatically reduce hospitalizations and deaths, a nasal vaccine would reduce transmission which would be glorious!

this is all a roundabout way of saying I hurt my ankle again yesterday, which is making me think that I should probably stop bouldering bc being injured is a *huge* PITA as a working parent w two small kids. T stopped playing contact sports years ago for this reason! But I love it 🥺

My own parents lived through a significant regime change in their late 20s, with a baby (my older sister), and I’m sitting around 50 years later worrying about the same thing in my own lifetime while going “owww my ankle, I hurt it when engaging in my pricey luxury hobby 🥺”

5 years in and I’m definitely well into the phase of “my mom made mistake and I definitely appreciate where she was coming from and how she landed there” so much parenting has been trying to be deliberate about what I’m doing, even when I have no equanimity
