Jackson fans were just buying a good pop record. In sheer numbers all of the Beatles outsell him. But: He's underrated as a songwriter. 8 no. 1 hits he wrote solo. Lots more than Prince, Bruce, Madonna... He had a remarkable ability to nail the song that would turn his albums into a phenomenon.

I think Jackson is overrated in one way and underrated in another. As for popularity, he was big ... but he was really just a big star who got really big for a while. Isn't it fair to note that Beatles and Presley fans were doing something radical and unprecedented when they bought their records?

Like a lot of people I am very appreciative of the amazing analysis surrounding Trump's legal adventures in the various podcasts. But I think I can speak for just about everyone when I say that we understand at this point that the New York Supreme Court is not the highest court in New York state.

Does anyone else watch Slow Horses? It's really an interesting show for anyone who likes the Three Days of the Condor/le Carre stuff... except the heroes really are bad at their job and keep getting themselves killed.

I saw a very famous guy a few years back and the show felt a lot like elder abuse. And just the other night I saw a '70s icon who delivered a tedious, static and listless show. Of course you +can+ still tour, if you can get folks to shell out for the experience. But +should+ you?
