How do you find parts for them nowadays? Is it mostly independent shops? Also, did your insurance rates change at all now that it's a dead brand in the US?

??? It's auto and tech journalists who beat that drum HARD with the 3G data shutdown.

Say, anything done to make sure they could keep their cars going in the long run. I'd imagine being tied to GM made keeping Holdens on the road easier than a total company shutdown, but yeah.

Maaaaaaaaybe? Did anything change for Suzuki owners after the company pulled out of the US? And did owners do anything to make sure they could keep their cars going in the long run in light of that?

Aw, dang. I probably should've been a little clearer that I meant the car company itself (Toyota, in this case) going defunct.

May be a bit different than what I'm looking for unless something really changed for Pontiac owners after the brand shut down.

I mean, I always want to hear about AMCs, haha. Did that community do anything in particular to ensure they could keep enjoying their cars for many decades in the future? I know it's a bit different than modern software-heavy cars, but maybe there's a lesson I could pass on to, say, Fisker owners RN

Heh, that might be a bit past the timeframe I'm looking at, but I am curious if Renault owners did anything to make their lives easier in the future (such as acquire parts or figure out how to keep servicing them when there were no longer set dealerships) when they heard the company was pulling out.

Heh, it may be a bit past the timeframe I'm looking at (specifically, how it affects consumers as the brand is going away).

Gah, RIP to a real one. Did the Holden community do anything to prepare for the shutdown (gather tools or knowledge, for example), or was it all just business as usual after the fact? Did everything just keep getting serviced by other GM brands?

Nice! Did you have either of those as the brands were shutting down? I think the GM cars had it sort of easy given that they just kept getting serviced by GM after the fact.

Glad Buick still offered support for it if you haaaaad to, though. Really worried about what might happen with the Fisker folks out there.

Man, that's a bummer if they dropped support for it. I like the Roadster. At least they opened up the service manual, I guess. I don't know how I'd even know where to begin on some stuff if I hadn't found a Dane-glish bootleg factory service manual for my 944 online.

Maaaaaan. Did you have it as Saab was shutting down, and did any Saab owners try to do anything (acquire special tools, for example) when they heard Saab was going kaput?

Kinda figured they were a lot easier than, say, the random Lordstown that showed up on Cars and Bids a while ago, heh. (Because of that parts-sharing reason and more.)

Heh, all good. Did anything affect you when the brand shut down? I kind of feel like Scion getting folded back into Toyota blunted the blow somewhat, though.

Facebook having suggested responses is the worst part. If you actually want the thing, use YOUR words. Type a real message. I don't think Craigslist is dead yet. Already got a couple responses to the pair of things I listed on there the other day.
