I’ve been massively let down on a major project and I now have a large hole in my schedule (and finances) from July onwards. Anyone needs a letterer with 20+ years skill + experience, please get in contact. Currently working for DC, 2000AD, Boom, Dark Horse. Reposts very much appreciated!

Fun, I think, at this point anyway. He’s clearly having the time of his life.

And that it's chore to be got out of the way instead of one of life's greatest pleasures.

Depends on your style, of course, but a big appeal of cartooning is that you can fudge this stuff quite a bit, in ways you couldn’t in (e.g.) a movie. It’s slightly more divorced from reality. We’ve all agreed that these marks arranged in a certain way represent certain things.

It's quite uneven early on as it fell behind schedule almost immediately. There's some really rushed work in the first few, which is possibly why it only lasted a year. It got better later on, by which time nobody was buying it.

It was a kids' series for DC called Gross Point, 1997ish. Waid & Augustyn wrote the first issue (and developed it, I think?) and it was later written by Dan Slott and others. The original penciller dropped out early and Joe took over; I ended up taking over the art entirely towards the end.

That's right (I was/am a big Staton fan since Charlton E-Man days, inked him for a year or so and almost wet myself). He was credited as "Joe Stanton" in the GL-GA he drew.

Having grown up in New Zealand I sometimes have a problem appreciating some very British things that I think are objectively good (Royle Family, Tony Hancock) but just… don’t connect somehow.

All super-heroes are magical. It's magic with "science" painted on the outside, that's all.

I don't know if this character from Kirby's DINGBATS OF DANGER STREET was a fart joke or just unfortunately named.

Oh! Well, off the top of my head, Metamorpho (with full supporting cast, natch - they're the most interesting part) and Mister Monster. There are some others I love but I don't think I'd be especially right for, like Captain Marvel (Fawcett version).

(Raises hand) two people.
Cards on table, Plastic Man is one of (counts on fingers) maybe three superheroes I would ever have any interest in working on.

I'm currently doing an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit to promote the Darkwing Duck Kickstarter, if anybody feels like joining in. (watches tumbleweed roll by)
