That’s a lot of traffic for 1949! A bit concerned about the red car close passing the cyclist too. Otherwise it’s the epitome of “twee” 😉

That's probably the main road from one market town to the next. In another 10 years, the villagers will be demanding a bypass. They might even get one 10 years on from then.
