Loved this episode. Maybe you mention this in the premium portion of the show, but it seems to me that the claim that ORC is "forcing the average family to pay an estimated $500 more each year on goods" (GM America clip) is an argument for retailers to keep prices high as inflation drops.

We’ve had a lot of similar measures against shoplifting in UK supermarkets recently. Here it feels like it’s implied to be more related to the cost of living crisis but I wonder if the supposed rise in crime is similarly evidenced…
