Republicans used to be the Party of Lincoln. Now they're the Party of the Confederate Flag.
It's not coincidence that the Confederacy and the Republican base are the same states.
But since all those old Confederates were Democrats, Republicans should have no problem removing their statues, right?

FDR was undersecretary of the Navy in WWI, in the Wilson Administration. WWI was very much a naval war, and FDR was busy running black sailors out of the Navy.
