And it isn't ancient history. In my lifetime, black people weren't ALLOWED to live in nice neighborhoods, go to good public schools, or hold management jobs. LEGALLY 2nd class. And the attitudes that created that didn't just disappear when the laws changed.

Also, hurt people hurt people. I live in Harlem, and I see a lot of hostility between Black people and Arab people in both directions. And they're both marginalized.

"Confederate battle flags, is a Democrat symbol." *was It's now flown and supported by Conservatives. BTW, the word is "Democratic." I'm not sure how seriously I should take you if you don't know the difference between a noun and an adjective.

That was 1932, not 1941. Roosevelt was quite popular with African Americans. His Fair Employment Practice Committee prohibited discrimination in Government hiring, and was the most significant civil rights legislation between Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Act.

Republicans used to be the Party of Lincoln. Now they're the Party of the Confederate Flag. It's not coincidence that the Confederacy and the Republican base are the same states. But since all those old Confederates were Democrats, Republicans should have no problem removing their statues, right?

"Single moment," no. I happened by degrees starting with FDR. But with Nixon, the Republicans started using "The Southern Strategy" (you can look it up): appealing to racism to turn the South Republican. RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman has admitted this, and apologized to the NAACP for it.

What's disappointing is that liberals are totally falling for the media/right wing narrative of "Biden is old" being the major issue. Instead of pushing back and making Trump's nonstop lies be the major issue. "Being old doesn't bother me as much as being a liar and convicted felon". Not hard.

A flaw in the design of #BlueSky is that you can't follow someone without opening their timeline. The extra step discourages follows, and follows are the lifeblood of this sort of site.

A "trending" section would be nice too.

I do like it here, though. It's a MUCH healthier atmosphere.

I used to know a man who owned an Indian Restaurant, but had to keep returning to India to stay in touch with his wife, who they wouldn't let in. He was legal. Owned a business. Employed people. And the bureaucrats wouldn't let his wife in.

Why is it assumed that high housing costs are good? They're good if you're a seller. They stink if you're a buyer. That drove me crazy before I owned my own place. "Good news! The housing market is up!" For some people, that's BAD news, because it means they're going to be displaced.
