Oh yeah, could work - this design is from 1740, painted by a designer based in Spitalfields (this is part of a dive on Spitalfields weavers loving growing flowers, especially tulips and dahlias)

This is a design by Anna Maria Garthwaite, who worked in Spitalfields in the 18th century. I was just googling to find other designs and found an AI art 'style library' based on her work

John Elster on voting: "Drudgery includes sweeping the sheets, working on an assembly line, or (with the qualifications discussed in Section IV) voting in an election; it does not lend itself to self-realization because it very soon becomes trivial or boring"

I literally warned y'all about exactly this kind of harmful outcome from GPT integrations, & even told you *why/how* it'd happen. And if it's showing in résumé sorting, then bet it's about break as having been happening in patient portals & police reports & lending application sorters & on & on & on

This is a case (like the Matthew effect being associated with Merton being an example of the Matthew effect) where a phenomenon in publication ethics is instantiated by the vehicle of its publication

But there's two papers proposing replacing authorship with different contributor roles from 1997. This paper by the philosopher David Resnik came out in Science and Engineering ethics, seemingly before the RYE paper (Rennie has a commentary in the same issue) link.springer.com/article/10.1...

One of the things in the background of lots of discussion of authorship is the fact that date of authored publication is often used to determine priority for discoveries and new ideas, and it seems like this proposal is associated with this set of authors, which quickly influenced journal guidelines

I wanted to be clear that this kind of proposal has a history, so cited this 1997 JAMA paper by Rennie, Yank and Emmanuel that argues that we ought to replace authorship with contributorship, and a guarantor role (it also proposes contribution statements) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9268280/

I got mixed up with locations: Arran is a 45 min train to Ardrossan, and then a 90 minute calmac ferry to the island. But other options, I think Glasgow might be your winner: edinburgh is great but very spenny in the festival. Glasgow has people's palace, and probs a quick bus to loch lomond

Right hiring with baby seats is a faff. That sounds lush - i'd probably recommend Glasgow over edinburgh if you want to get countryside rather than more a city break. From Glasgow you can go to both Oban and Brodrick (for the Arran ferry) relatively easily. Could totally do either for an overnight

Yeah, I was thinking you don't want to drive forever. I really liked Arran as a mix of highlands and lowlands, short ferry not too busy, and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Both suprisingly short drive from Glasgow
