The U.S. Constitution is an extremely impressive document, but for the opposite reasons people think. It’s not the wisdom of philosopher god-kings, it’s something made by guys like you and me under immense pressure in a hot summer with no AC who didn’t even like each other that kinda worked somehow.

I wish more people appreciated this point because this is exactly how actual policy and legislation happens, but the "romance" of how too many people look back on the Constitution gets in the way of thinking about what's possible/achievable
