Soundtrack aside, that would’ve been a completely different project about a completely different cast, albeit in a very similar setting. I might as well have painted a mural or built a house instead of writing a novel. Also the soundtrack would’ve been way different too

And to very specific real people, some of whom I’m not in touch with anymore. Like, everything I wrote about has happened in one way or another to numerous real people, usually including me, but I’m not taking liberties with any individuals. Other than Jerry Falwell by quoting him directly

I’ve gotten “why didn’t you write a memoir instead of a novel” a few times, almost always from readers who liked it tbf. To answer that, we’d have to ask 2019-2023 Me, because that person didn’t once consider writing anything but fiction. Literally never crossed my mind. 2024 Me likes the result :)

Once again thinking the only thing that could possibly unite America is another war against England. Run it back. "Somehow, England returned." Set it up so nobody gets hurt, but this is gonna need to be a 1984 forever war kinda thing. Also think of how much we'd invest in not sucking at soccer
