Really liking the appointment of James Timpson as minister of state for prisons, parole and probation. For non-UK folk, he’s a longstanding advocate for employing former prisoners and has put this into practice in his own business.

Turns out that getting up at 3.00am to watch your MP lose his seat is not conducive to staying awake for the whole of France v Portugal. And I really want this French team to win at this moment in time.

Popped out at lunchtime to vote. For the first time in my life (because FPTP), I stand a decent chance of having voted for the person who ends up being elected as my MP 🤞🏻

Like most people, I’ve seen some shoddy peer review from time to time, but I’m so angry about the disgraceful piece of reviewing I’ve just seen (not aimed at me, which is why I’m angry rather than devastated!). Some people just shouldn’t be let near peer reviewing or feedback processes.

I’ve been on research leave this year and I still get a tonne of emails, but I don’t get emails outside working hours any more. Why can’t we normalise this?

Wow, if a large part of the concern (and the problem) is young people leaving to live and work elsewhere, this is just going to make it worse.

I live in a constituency where a former minister is predicted to lose their seat and I haven’t had a single campaign leaflet from Labour. Two from the Tories, one from the Lib Dems, but zip from Labour. I only know who the Labour candidate is because I looked it up online.
