i've smelled plenty of dead pinnipeds (also awful) but the only dead cetacean i've smelled was the skeletonized remains of Luna, the poor doomed orca who got too habituated to boats in Nootka Sound in the early 2000s. But even their bones will stink for years. Impressive.
