Well La Chimera (dir. Alice Rohrwacher) was a perfect way of while away the time before the exit poll. Josh O’Connor (my first film of his) is splendidly brooding, Belmondo bearding into Elliot Gould. And in fact though it’s set in the 80s the cinematographic vibe is gorgeously 60s/70s.

Isabella Rossellini and Carol Duarte are both delightful, and I loved the music, songs, dance, and the select moments of real filmic imagination. And while I do like a bit of ambiguity, I thought Rohrwacher lost control of this at times: the cop-out ending in particular felt unnecessary.

Belmondo and Elliot Gould are a very good reference points! (I have a bit of a crush on JO’C, even though I’m clearly old enough to be his mother.)

I felt like it *shouldn't* work, but it did... it has a magic to it. O'Connor great (as is the whole cast I thought).

Thoroughly enjoyed it! Watched it twice at the cinema and have to ordered on Blu-ray. Alice Rohrwacher is so very talented
