Ach, it’s busiest around the autumn (especially with LFF and Belfast Film Festival). I run a wee film club at school too, which encourages me to go more often.

I bet!! Compared to my previous haunts growing up in England (and mate’s local cinemas across the water), it is fantastic value for money. I only wish I made more regular use of it. 3 to 4 times a month (if I’m lucky!)

I would never claim Labour are perfect - far from it - but looking at France, Hungary, the Netherlands etc, I am far more hopeful about what they might offer. 14 years of austerity is far, far too long…

RIP Robert Towne, who crystallised the ‘ideal’ of the genius 70s screenwriter. Everyone is going to mention Chinatown, of course, but I am more likely to rewatch The Last Detail, a rough, heartbreaking piece of realism that goes against the times and does something timeless.
