also worth mentioning how many kids come into undergrad indoctrinated on this issue from religious school, birthright, family, and of course plenty of media coverage. a lot of my jewish peers who came into college with knee-jerk zionist views have, at the very least, since moderated their beliefs

i've been feeling this, too. since the launch of so many 2nd-gen streaming platforms, april and may had been just impossibly packed with prestige tv premieres. the other weird (and almost certainly strike-related) thing about 2024 so far is the super-high ratio of new to returning shows.

and of course so many small and midsize venues are now owned by and/or affiliated with national or regional behemoths, like AEG-affiliated bowery presents in new york, that picking a fight about one tour date can harm a booking agent's ability to operate in a whole market, and beyond

it's a shame. i worry about this stopping small independent artists from touring, because their audiences tend to see more live music than fans of arena acts, and if you can afford to spend $100 a month on shows, it matters if it used to be distributed among 5 or 6 bills but is now going to 2 or 3.

Finalizing Fall US tour dates and my frustration with with exorbitant ticket fees is at peak. It's like pulling teeth to have tickets available at face value, which we insist on. Being fair, some venues are fine and cooperative, but this whole practice should be illegal.
