Star Wars fans need to admit our debt of gratitude to George Lucas' first wife Marcia Lucas. Her ideas saved the Death Star trench run in the first film. She was there to tell George, and he listened, when he had a terrible idea. The prequels suffered from lacking someone to tell George "no."

For writing, it still boggles my mind how, when he had at least a half dozen excellent novel writers, who knew his lore better than he did, he didn't have one or more of then involved. George is infamous for being lousy at dialogue, even for Oscar winners. Should have given them an outline instead.
