I had not read that one, did like The Ballad of Black Tom, and it might actually work for me to go in backwards, and read Red Hook NOW, so that I can see what he did there.

I read Lovecraft's complete works after I read a bunch of stuff directly influenced/inspired by him, and honestly, reading the originals was more fun because I got to draw those connections from something I loved. I might not have made it through the originals without better touchstones.

You know, you're part of the reason I struggle with this. </ teasing> I keep thinking about you talked about how every piece of art is in a conversation with the art that came before it. It's not as if I was unaware of the general principles, but phrasing it that way had an effect (complimentary).
