Is my entire adult life going to consist of discovering conditions I've had since I was a kid that were never diagnosed?

Sounds familiar. In my fam, things were treated as discipline problems; everyone was private; psych was quackery. Late bloomer and when things really started pushing the edge in college a friend challenged me to see someone on campus. They confirmed the first one that I had already suspected.

I feel this one omg. The difficult part is getting doctors to take it serious because, well, you lived with it for 35 years, are you suuuuure this needs to be looked into?

I mean, same. I'm seeing a doctor about a decades-long insomnia problem on Monday. Ugh.

That’s how it feels! For me, I like when the doctor went really really quiet for a moment and then said “how did they miss this??? “

I can relate to this. I have several conditions diagnosed during adulthood. And I suspect I have 1 or 2 more undiagnosed ones.

I am really hating this part of adulthood. Ignorance was kinda blissful.

I've just realised I'm allergic to mosquito bites. Didn't get them in the UK when I was a kid. Fucking climate change.

I at least have some weird kind of comfort about the fact that some of the conditions I've had since childhood were literally not in the medical literature like...at all yet So it was literally impossible to get a diagnosis before (doctors didn't have to be such jerks back then tho!)

Oof. I feel this big time. Nice shiny metal hips were the end result of the last diagnosis, and I'm currently waiting on an ADHD screening, so...
