Also - I wish I had more characters but, in a nutshell, you cannot understand the bones of this country or how we psychologically broke free of Britain without understanding the Great Wars especially. Our military is how we understood ourselves as Canadian, not British. See Vimy, Passchendaele, etc.

I am a weird Leftie, I've never hated on folks in the Canadian military, but I know what you're talking about. I would get very weird looks sometimes when I talked about Remembrance Day - one year I did a daily WWI art post from Nov 1 - 11.
