It can take time to break into rural communities. Something to be aware of is that there aren't an infinite number of possible social occasions like in the city. You've got to find the cultural pockets and some of these folks might only go outside 4x per year lol

100% this. We moved out of the city 15+ yrs ago and there isn’t typically a lot happening so high school sports, fairs, bars/diners and grocery stores are where you meet people but it’s so infrequent it takes time for people to warm up, especially in my long hair having case lol.

aaahhhhh! but also yeah, they have a lot more house work and yard work, makes sense. country mouse life is quieter than I prefer

yes! meet people where they're at, make friends at the grocery store or the dog park and go from there. i know it's counterproductive for our form of organizing, but in rural areas facebook is a huge help for events and community stuff.
