Listen to children, women, listen to disabled folks, the trans people, or any other marginalized group/community. They have seen it all. If you need a figure to glorify, might as well pick any fictional character. No human being deserves to own zero accountability.

If we only listen to people who are "influential" or "powerful" there is a big chance we're missing a big chunk of the narrative, because some people don't reveal who they are until they meet someone with less opportunities to fight back. Your adoration might be unfounded.

for me being rich and successful is to be able to sleep and wake up when i want, eat when i'm hungry, always have access to clean plumbing and a comfortable resting space, and being able to say no

to those who never experience it, this is the closest thing to how being in Church makes me feel. abandoned, hurt and deeply unsafe. because people experiencing religious trauma is never about the God, it's the cruelty people do in the name of their God.
