Yesterday, I was walking through my neighbourhood (Lewisham - a strong Labour seat) and saw something which gave me pause. I realised I'd only seen one Labour poster in a window. We know enthusiasm is low, but that really drives it home. That implies something about turnout, which makes me worry.
I'm Lewisham East, living close to my MP. There are some Labour stands and posters but less than normal. However, I'd add there are less posters than normal for any party in this borough. Last weekend we drove through the south downs and there were lots of Green boards up, which was heartening...
I'm not sure if it's a lack of enthusiasm, or an assumption that everyone will vote Labour, so why bother with the poster.
I'm worried about voter turnout as well. If everyone assumes Labour is going to win, fewer people will feel obligated to vote for them.
As someone who grew up in Southwark, but went to school in Lewisham, lived there for a while, and worked there until nine years ago- yes, that is very worrying
Have noticed it too. There's only one up in a window in our street, which also Lewisham. Leaves me wondering the same. (I mean, we don't have one up either but my partner works for a charity and we play it safe... we do have one up from the charity he works for; "vote for [x] policies")
We saw some in Eltham the other day, in mind blowing news it seems that seat is going to flip on Thursday after umpteen blue years. Just looking through everyone's replies, I'm wondering whether Bluesky is the unofficial microblogging platform of choice for my borough (you guessed it, Lewisham).
