I'd also recommend installed NVAC if you haven't already, it doesn't address the issues that cause crashes but it does literally just, tell the game to continue running no matter what in like 75% of circumstances.

Are you sure you installed them correctly? There should be a guide on vmv's website that shows you how to check if you have or not. Also make sure you don't have mods like the New Vegas Tick Fix installed, NVTF will literally crash the game every 15 minites.

Last bit of advice, if you need to install an app, if it's linux native, your going to need to either use your distros package manager (basically an app store full of free software) or your gonna need to use the terminals to access software repositories (Debian uses apt and Arch uses Pacman)

Also, just a word of advice, most of ur windows programs aren't going to run natively on Linux, your gonna need to learn how to use Wine and Lutris a lot, and even then some stuff like photoshop just can't run on it. For games, Steam already has a built-in compatibility layer called proton.

If ur just starting to use linux for the first time, I'd try either mint or kde neon, both run off of Debian and are quite beginner friendly. You can also try endeavorOS, which is basically arch linux with stuff like a DE and essential apps already all set up for you, and it's very easy to install.
