An analysis of how we got here is certainly reasonable, but it is worth noting that it is exceedingly rare for a party to reject the incumbent, and it is more anomolous that the GOP chose a multiply-indicted candidate who lost the last election and fomented a coup.

It really is an indictment of the warpedness of our political news media institutions that the Dem Party doing something very precedented is considered this unconscionable aberration & the GOP doing something completely unprecedented is considered normal to the point of not even meriting comment
