I find the categorisation confusing. Pasta is not, but instant noodles are. When it says cookies are, does that mean only prepackaged, or ones I make at home? What if i make tofu at home, is that also ultraprocessed?

Tofu is considered "ultraprocessed"? Seems kinda weird that it would fall into the same category as something like soda or a Beyond burger.

Thank you so much for this! I've been on a strictly plant-based diet for over 24 years now and though I can't afford to buy fake meat that often, when my budget allows me some treats I do buy them but I try to get the ones which are as healthier as possible.😇 Sharing this on other media too!

I'm still confused what this means So, Plant based ultraprocessed food was actually a very small portion of the study and got lumped in with packaged bread, pre-made pizzas, etc Wouldn't that mean it's rather inconclusive on tofu and meat substitutes being bad because the category itself is broad?

So as usual, an extremely broad study was interpreted with laser precision against an infinitesimally microscopic niche product, that still represents a serious threat to an industry that provides 5.6% of total US GDP. Hey Siri: define "bias".
