If you're dyslexic, could you respond to this post with the font you find easiest to read (or font aspects that are useful for you)?
I am looking for specific personal experiences, not generalised advice or outside assumed perspectives.
Comic sans and what ever fonts they used in gen1 pokemon and Zelda Link to the past. but for those last two i think it was more down to size and spacing of the text then the font itself.
I use comic sans a lot, it works well for me. I do most of my coding at work with the editor in darkmode with comic sans. I also get on with open dyslexic and use it for things like e readers.
I find sans serifs to be the most manageable, and usually default to Arial since it's available across most of the software I need to use. The fonts designed to be more dyslexia-friendly haven't been very helpful for me.
Minor tangent, but have you ever seen the documentary “Helvetica”? It’s about font design with a particular focus on the Helvetica font. Looks like it’s on Kanopy, but that might be US-only.
For me, the biggest thing about subtitle fonts is they can't just be monotone. A lot of companies get lazy and careless about how they do their subs so sometimes you'll end up with a scene that puts their subs over a background that's literally the same color and makes it unreadable.
