Thank you 💙🫂 It's almost ironic bc he was a RN in the ICU before he retired, but he's also been a Republican stooge for as long as I've been alive. So, he bought the propaganda and didn't protect himself despite being in a position to (theoretically) know better.

Oh, I totally agree. To clarify, I generally don't expect people to be informed. I was just trying to explain that I think many folks default to denial rather than attempting to learn about or acknowledge COVID as an ongoing risk because it's too scary and could basically shatter their worldview.

Weak on COVID, and weakened by it while pretending to be vaxxed and relaxed. As someone whose 84-year-old father has COVID-accelerated dementia, I think a lot of folks are terrified of reckoning with the consequences of repeated infections, so denial is easier, and there's less resistance.

Agreed. Beyond the messaging, toothless responses to emerging issues and harmful GOP policies (outside of using them to fearmonger for fundraising and votes) are not inspiring confidence. The Heritage Foundation has been on its bullshit my entire life (also 39) and there's no real Dem counterpoint.

NYC Dept of Health tweets from July 9. Both are reasons to wear an n95 in public. Not just in NYC. COVID, pollution, and climate change are everywhere. Covid and air pollution can cause cumulative damage and disability that will make you more vulnerable to heatwaves and other climate effects.

It's not too late. Especially bc Biden already said he'd be "at peace" if he loses to Trump, I really don't see how anyone can seriously regard him as the only one who can "save Democracy" or expect skeptics to buy into these false premises or feel any real electoral urgency about what is at stake.

Honestly, I don't wanna see what happened with Dianne Feinstein + RBG happen with Biden too. I can't see how a responsive, capable candidate is more disastrous than what increasingly feels like a Weekend at Bernie's approach. What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.
