The only upside is that slaughter of such magnitude would dramatically increase the likelihood of a regime being overthrown or collapsing quite a bit, especially if members of the powerful become victims.

The belief that chaotic downfall has upside is not one I share. "post revolutionary" is historically, a 40 year shit show. This country has, and will have, a lot of guns.
