okay but that’s not super weird in democracies, though? Obama was seen to have handpicked Hillary Clinton, e.g., and there has been a fairly long-running tradition in the US of presidents choosing VPs who then go on to (with varying success) run for president. Clinton->Gore, Reagan->Bush, etc
