ahh thinking about movies like Sorcerer and Thief and scenes of just showing a guy doing a task with his hands with no dialogue, scored by Tangerine Dream...

Watched Aguirre this weekend and very much sorcerer vibes the whole time. Popol Vuh instead of tangerine dream but still good.

Someone pointed out that part of the appeal of Breaking Bad was watching someone extremely skilled and capable just doing their (illegal) job, which I think can easily be tied to heist movies and stuff like the Parker novels (from which I got my name)

Mann followed Thief with The Keep. It had a notoriously messy post-production that degraded the final cut. Still, it's very worth watching, and the Tangerine Dream Score is wonderful. Also the orig. Wages of Fear (that Sorcerer was based on) is still the king of guys doing stuff with high stakes.
