In 2013 two guys whose favorite movie is (was?) Hudson Hawk decided to watch every movie in the Criterion Collection in Spine order. And why not make it a podcast?

Continuing through the David Lean Directs Noel Coward boxset, this week brings us This Happy Breed, a sort of Ready Player One for the British Middle Class. Remember the Charleston? Remember volunteering as strikebreakers? Remember the expo?

Drawing from the Criterion Channel's list of Synth Soundtracks our June Patreon bonus in on John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13. It's a movie you shouldn't think too deeply about the politics of, which we of course do. It's who we are!

This week we kick off a boxset of David Lean directing the works of Noel Coward with In Which We Serve (1942), a nicely shot piece of pro-war propaganda that quite a few scenes that should be anti-war propaganda.

Terrible to watch every movie while constantly looking for plot, editing, continuity, effects and acting deficiencies. Especially when you could be watching every movie and judging it based on how well it furthers the goals of world communism.

Film for this week basically just said, "The problem with you young people is you believe in historical materialism."

Legitimately can't gauge if it is funnier that Freddy Got Fingered was on the Criterion Channel or that Freddy Got Fingered is now on Disney+

I cannot recreate the problem. Everything appears to be working when I access the podcast's page through Apple Podcasts on a Mac and iTunes on a Windows 10 machine logged in through a different account. I've started the last 5 episodes on each with no issue. I'll see if there's anything on

Just over 600 spines into the Criterion Collection and I think the most horrific image in any of these films is the extreme closeup of James Carville eating popcorn in The War Room (1993).

Even if I were inclined to take a dog into a movie theater, I feel like a Mad Max movie is a bad choice.

Costa-Gavras' absolutely fantastic film Z (1969) is a fictionalization of Grigoris Lambrakis' assassination and we highly recommend checking it out.
