A lot of this govt appears to be about catering to outdated industries. "We have to have mines or what will all the miners do?" "We can't have rail freight because then what will all the truckers do?" The weights of the past have more influence on the govt than the opportunities of the future

I think it's more "we have to have mines otherwise how will mine owners profit?", "we must have trucks otherwise how will truck freight companies profit?" Etc etc

Rail is run by the govt and hence cannot donate to the Nats The trucking companies however, are big donors to the Nats
