In a new paper for our “dilemmas” project, I discuss one way in which sovereign migration control interests undermine inclusive responses to unauthorized migrant residence: they create a dilemmatic tension between regularization & firewall policies. doi.org/10.1186/s40878-024-00380-5

Postindustrial economies have aging populations and low birthrates and absolutely need massive immigration. But they also have low rates of economic growth and increasingly zero-sum politics. This is a recipe for a new fascism if ever there was one.

Trying out Polisky by sharing a new article! I argue that states may undermine would-be immigrants' moral equality by perpetrating colonial norms in international relations, which gives liberals distinct reason to think much immigration control authority illegitimate.
