and I think the handwringing is specifically related to the fact that SC judges all have excellent degrees from the best institutions, the most respectable career paths etc. but the fact is that the systems of higher legal education and judicial training are fake, it’s all fake, it’s just words

whenever the supreme court does something awful it’s always met w/ a certain amount of handwringing re: how educated justices steeped in constitutional law & with stated originalist principles could be so hypocritical, and the clear answer is that they don’t care lol, they are pure political actors
