That and I definitely have experienced gatekeepers and those who see their own success and refuse to build community. But at the end of the day especially with arts funding getting gutted on the regular. We should be supporting each other

tbh i think art collectives actually offer the community support and accommodations we often lack in solo practices. body doubling; help with task initiation paralysis; less rumination and more action; external validation; unbiased feedback; sharing resources and knowledge otherwise unavailable.

right!? it’s harder for us under the neurodivergent umbrella to find and build community, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have it. collectives share resources, tools, themes, ideas, support, opportunities, etc. and it makes a difference in moments of doubt, insecurity or scarcity.

it’s important to find the balance between the solitude needed to create and the community needed to succeed. artists need collectives. art needs community. and community needs art. we can all agree individualism is killing us right? so what do y’all think will save us? hint: it’s not Jesus

if you buy your tickets at least 4 - 6 months before the travel date, the flights are much cheaper. also promotions, TAP has Black Friday deals, so in November you can get really cheap flights. also inflated rates happen around the holidays, out of season tickets can be as cheap as 1/3 of that price

there used to be direct flights to Praia (capital, island Santiago) with TACV, but now i’m pretty sure the best bet is either TAP (portuguese airline, 1 stop in Lisbon) or SATA (1 stop in Azores) — but you’re better off with TAP. the best way to get cheaper rates is to plan ahead.

Carnaval in Cabo Verde is a great time! and the weather is usually perfect around that time of year too! Carnaval in São Vicente (a northern island) is the best imo.

okay i need to do like a lesson plan for you and Chantal. i’ve never taught anyone how to speak another language, but we’ll figure it out. and Kriolu is even easier. especially with a Kreyol background.
