It is really an exceptional show otherwise. I think all the other changes are in service to the themes and make it stronger. So I still recommend it, and I think the actress still gives a great performance at least!

When I hear “women-only spaces” I think of the woman who got mad because I took the four-year-old I was babysitting into a public women’s bathroom with me, to wait by my stall. He was too young for any other option. She was angry I’d brought a boy in. Like a 4-year-old is going to assault someone.

Claudia’s character, her relationship with Louis -all of the “ickiness” of that- was the most impactful illustration of one of the book’s themes- how immortality wears slowly away over time at human social norms and human morals until they are gone or permanently changed.

Finished IWTV season 1 today. I loved the actress playing Claudia, but I don’t love that the character was aged up, or the significant ways her story was changed. I can understand why those decisions were made, but the impact and meaning of her character was greatly lessened. Great show overall tho.

Golden Boar was heavily inspired by the Fate series (mainly, what I wished it was like) & my Arthur obsession began with interest in the Arthurian characters in Fate, which lead to my second published work (Cards of Camelot). You could say Fate is the single most influential series on my work lol
