Alejandro's newsletter is always a visual treat! He's also one of the guest artists who did a commission for me based on my comics. It's a personal project where I reach out to artists I admire and ask them to do a drawing, carte blanche and he killed it.

My expectations from animation have never been the same. The NA stuff still mostly disappoints though. Strange that American comics and animation both cling to their roots as entertainment for children and/or nostalgia farming (same thing imo)

I was talking about this with @irisjaycomics.bsky.social for like an HOUR last night- artists need to re-learn that it's stronger in the long run to cast your net deep rather than wide. We talk about the 1,000 True Fans theory all the time, but how do you GET those True Fans in the first place?

Thanks, I did a remix, this time I borrowed directly from a font I saw on a 60s board game called payday. When I saw the 3D stacked font, it was so similar and yet so different from the chiselled one that I had to make it. I don't think of myself as a designer but these logos, I'm very proud of.

Where I live there's a church in disrepair on desirable property that was GIFTED to the church by the community forever ago. Now the church gets to sell it to developers and take the money. Fuck 'em. It should go back to the city to do with as best suits the community.

Thanks for doing this! I'm an Alberta-born cartoonist living in Hull, Quebec. My soft scifi comics have a rural feel because I can't escape the prairie aesthetic that I grew up with. We don't even have magpies in QC!
