I can perfectly understand why it would feel comforting to lie to ones self about this, but I'm hoping the people who are actually in positions to do something about it won't.

I know you are a good person and you have the best intentions. I too am concerned about our government. I’m just not sure that “sources” aren’t lying to us. Maybe I’m just old and retain vivid memories of Judith Miller lying in the NYT about Iraq.
