Love how YouTube's sucking up to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act goes as far as to respect the privacy of children who agreed to show their faces for nationwide public consumption and are now fully grown adults, not a broken system or a threat to archivists at all

Found MaXXXine to be a flaccid, shallow, incomplete nothingburger. Has nothing new or intellectual to say and even less interest in porn or sexuality than X. It’s great when a film is this invested in its characters’ personalities and depth, and in the science of the crime. Melville paints the man’s world as both cool and constraining: cops and robbers aren’t so different and women exist merely to serve. It’s sheer monotony, and *yet* you love to see it.

When Disney dumped Turning Red, it wasn't until April that families had something new to see in 2022! In 2023 we almost had Purple Crayon, Tiger's Apprentice and Wonka prior to Mario! In 2024, Tiger was dumped, Elio was delayed and kids had to wait another two months after KFP4 for another trip out!

Hollywood should learn from the speedy success of IO2 and DM4 that kids want to go to the movies! The past three years have seen studios delaying or streaming-dumping the first chance of the year families are given! Studios should stop stalling and give kids more reasons to go out during the year!

Watch SCAVENGERS REIGN. Watch CAROL AND THE END OF THE WORLD. Watch BLUE EYE SAMURAI. Watch PLUTO. Netflix needs to understand that *original animated series for YA/adults* have value beyond raunchy comedy. There IS an audience for it. They’ll keep canceling them unless they see those numbers.

Interesting that Kellogg’s brought back Choco Corn Flakes for a while only to fumble the recipe, leaving kids choking on clusters that wouldn’t separate in the milk, and I didn’t notice until I saw this single battered box somehow left on display weeks after they were recalled

Picked the least flattering angle for this concert screening of Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures, which I have recorded but somehow never caught up to, but to see his illustrations come alive on a big screen and to hear an audience respond to this lush 2D animation? Not a wasted £15 trip out at all.

Obviously Studio Ponoc had to strike that deal with Netflix because The Imaginary flopped in domestic theatres, the thing is though that GKIDS would do so much better at giving their slate exposure and adequate distribution than Netflix is currently doing. They're even better at dubs than Netflix!

Kill shows that the goriest martial arts can be greatly improved with some emotional vulnerability. When it finally unleashes the beast after a goofy first act, it truly snaps, balancing ruthlessness with bittersweet pathos all while being the most gruesome train thriller you’ve probably ever seen.

I love a good hand-drawn sequence and the animated prologue to this film is the wildest, coolest part of this, flashing forward through centuries of atrocity leading up to this film’s events. Shouldn’t expect any less from India, but I couldn’t believe this actually opened a modern space opera.
