Very unfun fact: Project 2025 specifically names Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area and wants to remove its protected status and open it up to mining. This is the future Donald John Trump wants.

Hot take: I'm truly not interested in hand wringing over how much people will miss enjoying the books of men who have turned out to be abusers. I'm far more concerned about the missing art that women haven't been able to create/publish because they crossed paths with such men.

This is a great read. People like to think of nature as having some kind of innate preference for its undisturbed state--a balancing force that will nudge human-wrecked ecosystems back into their natural food webs if we can only reintroduce all the species we've displaced. Turns out, not so much.

I'm taking an ecology class, and oof. It's hard to read a lot of this stuff, because I can see what a seemingly impossible situation the US has gotten itself into through corporate and political greed. It's not hard to see why some people/entities have an interest in suppressing education.

It's the first day of school! I'm taking two classes for the second summer session, Principles of Ecology and Statistics. Because it's a summer session, the classes are less than half the length of time of a normal semester, so everything is accelerated. A lab science and a math class. Hehehehe.

Among the many evils of "crisis pregnancy centers": they are not medical providers and so do not follow HIPAA or medical privacy ethics. Instead, they gleefully give away (to right-wing orgs) and sell (to data brokers) all information you give them. They should be illegal.

Yeah--even when we try to "make it right," it's still an artificial version of the real thing. I don't think we should STOP, but I think we need to acknowledge our roles in all of this.
