Two professors at UT Austin, John Hatfield and Daniel Bonevac, are suing for the right to penalize their students who miss class because they are obtaining an abortion out-of-state. media.aflegal.org/wp-content/u...
Okay but how would they know or be even privy to that level of knowledge?
Like this is pure blatant male performance. Who are they trying to impress? Who is dangling money at them? Because this is some wild shit: paranoia that you student is getting an abortion. Their sex life rent free in the head
I have never, ever asked for the details of a student who needs to miss class for medical reasons, and I’m not allowed to. This is unbelievably invasive, cruel, and illegal. I hope students boycott their classes to the best of their abilities.
maybe i’m missing something here but how would they know? at my school, absences were excused with a signed note from a doctor, the reason for the doctor visit wasn’t required and i don’t think they can legally demand the reason for the visit? am i wrong about that?
Why do they think their female students will tell them "I'm getting an abortion"?
Do they also believe all the students who swear they have a cold and they're not hungover?
Hatfield and Bonevac say they "do not intend to accommodate student absences from class to obtain abortions—including illegal abortions and purely elective abortions that are not medically required." They want to penalize any student who misses class for this reason.
