I also honestly think that a huge reason why Google abandoned the "move people along ASAP" theory is at least partially because they realized how hard (and expensive) it is to fight inauthentic results manipulation and they're trying to find a way to reduce the burden of doing so.
I agree but it's a damn shame that giant intermediaries are such bad actors because they allow people with niche interests to find each other and embrace their shared interests so much more easily. Also expand awareness of the topic.
Then again it does allow the nazis to find one another too.
