I adore it to pieces (as one of those girls who spent her childhood and adolescence in her own dream world!) but I can kind of see reducing it in an adaptation because TV pacing is different than comic pacing

I can see the reasons for doing that in an adaptation, since AGoY is not as critical to the overall arc, but also wow that would change a bunch of Thessaly's role in The Kindly Ones (which I could see being both good and bad!)

Huh. If I'm reading this right, season 2 is going to be Season of Mists and Brief Lives, and they're merging Wanda with the character of Ruby from Brief Lives. That makes me think they're skipping over A Game of You entirely, unless it's going to be a stand-alone episode.

Sad high five on the electoral reform, though. I think that's a universal need.

Yeah, Labor is deeply depressing in general, but it's still going to be a very satisfying obliteration of the Tories and their bullshit. And right now we need all the "far right resoundingly defeated" stories we can get!

I am pretty sure I hit over a million blocks on Xitter before I stopped using the account. (The count tops out at 250k but I KNOW I was well beyond it.) I've got about 2500 here.

I use 1Password and am very happy with it (they've had a few extremely minor security incidents, but they were extremely transparent about them and none of them compromised customer data). If "free" is more important than features, friends are equally happy with Bitwarden.

I've been paying attention to the election because I have a bunch of friends in the UK and because I am gleefully anticipating the good news of the Tories getting fucking spanked. It's gonna be awesome. Latest polls I saw showed Sunak might not even keep his seat :D

From what I'm seeing they expect excellent turnout, there's been a real focus on tactical voting to try to get the Tories into third and LD as the official Opposition, which would be amazing

You can import the password data to another password manager -- www.theverge.com/22295354/las... has a good overview. The issue is you should also change all your passwords that were in the LastPass vault, and that's the part that takes forever :/

The problem isn't the security incidents (although they do demonstrate a level of extreme laxity towards security internally, which is troublesome) but the frantic attempts to spin rather than provide rapid accurate full disclosure is what made everyone I know drop them.

In 1986 there were 3.5 million cases a year. In 2023 there were 14. There haven't been any reported so far in 2024. He said in 2015 when he announced his brain cancer that he hoped he'd outlive the Guinea worm, and it's very possible he might still live to see a year with no reported cases.

Yeah, that's another reason I often quote instead of reply -- the "show replies on your timeline" setting means there's not much difference in how many people will see it either way, but a quote post means the replies are flooding my mentions, not theirs.

That still does happen occasionally here, and some people will agree, but the reaction I mostly see is "so block them and they won't be bringing you all that traffic anymore", heh.

Yeah, the biggest incidents I've accidentally provoked are just people from two different communication styles not clicking with each other, not "deliberate trolling". Then again, I am very aggressive with the block button myself, so my followers are pre-weeded.

Shakes the brain up enough that if it's right there and your brain won't let you perceive it, you might spot it when the space is upside down and your brain isn't filling in the expected details.

My mother used to singsong "did you look YOUR way or did you look MY way?" and then mock me when she found the thing immediately! This is one of the many reasons I am not speaking to my mother, heh. Works for me sometimes: take a photo of the most likely space and turn it upside down

But really, the "block anyone you don't vibe with" attitude around here is pretty helpful. I can feel a bunch less guilty about it because the block is just *so* effective.

I always feel weird when that happens, and I have cut back on replying outside my own timeline a bit (I figure anyone who replies to me on my account knows what they're in for), but I don't avoid *all* replies because then I'm that asshole who never replies elsewhere, etc.
